Kherson Academic Lyceum
Kherson Academic Lyceum at Kherson State University is one of the most powerful multidisciplinary educational
institutions of the Region. Founded in 1994 by combined efforts of the Kherson Town Soviet and the Academic
Council of Kherson Pedagogical Institute (from 2002 – Kherson State University), the Lyceum became the
embodiment of up-to- date pedagogical ideas in studies and pedagogical work with the talented youth of the
Region.  The teaching staff of Kherson Academic Lyceum is headed by Doctor of Philology, Honoured Art Worker
of Ukraine, Professor Oleg Mishukov.
One hundred and twenty-five professors and associate professors, four honoured teachers  of Ukraine, three
Soros teachers, the two teachers who were awarded the title of   Honoured Art Worker of Ukraine and  Honoured
Cultural Worker of Ukraine, nine teachers who are winners and laureates of the workmanship competition The
Teacher of the Year work in the establishment.
One of the main tasks of the educational-research staff of the Lyceum was the creation of such a flexible model
of an educational establishment of classical orientation that will allow solving the strategic tasks and responding
efficiently to the demands of the society in these or those specialities.
Now the students of the Lyceum study three years (9 -11 forms) and are educated in 16 special subjects, notably:
Law and History, Psychology and Sociology, International Relations, Choreography and Study of Art, English and
German Philology, German and English Philology, English and Russian Philology, Spanish and English Philology,
French and English Philology, Ukrainian and English Philology, Language and Literature Study and Journalism,
Medicine, Natural Sciences,  Economics and Entrepreneurship, Mathematics and Computer Science,
International Economics
All the specialities are provided with advanced study of English and Computer Science.
From 2007 – 2008 the Lyceum launched the modular system which is the component of the Boulogne process.
One hundred per cent of the Lyceum graduates become students of our University, National Universities of
Ukraine, higher educational institutions of Russia, Germany, Austria, Israel, England, France, and Spain. Now,
the Lyceum students take a study trip to these countries.
There is a big reading room, two Internet classrooms, a multimedia classroom, a Chemical, a Biological, a
Physical Laboratories. The Lyceum has a Youth Cultural Center, a Lyceum Café.
The University Gymnasium and the Assembly Hall, the Botanic Garden, the Boarding Guest House on the shore
of the Black Sea, the Aquatic Sports Centre, study rooms, the reading and lending rooms of the University
Library are at the disposal of the students
